Luke Cage infused with 90s Hip Hop

I like this

Word has come down that the new superhero Marvel/NetFlix series Luke Cage, will be composed by a super duo of 90’s inspired Hiphoppas. The duo of Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad recently worked together on Kendrick Lamar’s “untitled 06” but  join forces here to fill the Harlem based action-adventure with soulful, powerful backdrops of sound that will delight audiences. Already the teaser trailer featuring Ol Dirty Bastard’s “Ohh Baby I Like It Raw” amped viewers who watched Luke Cage, aka Power Man, mash up a bunch of bad guys after busting through locked doors and a shower of bullets. The soundtrack will feature hits from the 1990’s as well as original music and spotlight performances by Faith Evans, Raphael Saadiq, Charles Bradley, The Delfonics, Method Man, and Jidenna. The series is under the direction of Cheo Hodari Coker and stars Mike Colter as Luke Cage. It premieres in full on Netflix September 30th 2016.

Ali Shaheed Muhammad is the legendary deejay/producer of A Tribe Called Quest. Adrian Younge is the composer of the Black Dynamite soundtrack and WutAng affiliate who produced Twelve Reasons to Die (1 & 2) with Ghostface Killah. (Check out the previous article on Adrian Younge here.)
